Did your father serve in Crete? As he was one of the last to leave, he either opted to remain or he was a strong party member. Prisoners were listed as White, Grey or Black according to their sympathies. All white had been repatriated before I arrived at the camp and most Italians except those from the Tyrol. Patrick

Your welcome, you haven't really changed that much during these years.

Yes, my Father served in Kreta/Crete. I don't know the reason of which he was one of the last to leave.
Don't think it was because he was a strong party member, perhaps he opted for personal reasons.
There wasn't really much to come home to.

Hi,
I am new in the forum. I have been doing a research on allied POW kept in Turkish POW camps (Afion, Konya, Nigde, Ankara etc). I have made thorough use of another forum for the last year. So one by one I go walkabouts in other significant forums!. Axis in one that I am sure I can benefit from. I have gathered a lot of data and pictures through the other forum for my book, soon to be published. I believe I have a lot to benefit from Axis forum. Can you good guys please help me locate photos (especially afion camp), diaries, books etc. on Turkish POW camps ?

I just received from CICR (International committee of Red Cross) in Geneva the result of an inquiry I sent many months ago regarding the certification of my father detention in India as POW.
They found the capture card dated 5.9.1942 (about 55 days later) and a second card with the change of POW camp.
Something can be found, thanks to this wonderful Organization.
