Re: Dutch artillery
I have reproduced your list with my own comments and corrections added:toque wrote:Can anyone fill in the gaps, or make corrections to this Dutch artillery inventory?
Dutch name/Calibre/Provenance
6-veld 57mm (D) Krupp 1894? - Standard infantry regimental gun of the Dutch Army in 1940, with 206 still in service, with many assigned to local defense roles in the various fortified lines, and as rather ineffective emergency antitank weapons.
? Siderius IG 70mm L12.0 (NL) Indigenous design? - AFAIK not adopted for use by the Dutch or KNIL, but offered for export.
? 75mm L36.3 (F) Canon de 75 mle 1897 Puteaux - Not used by the Dutch or KNIL.
? 75mm L36.6 (F) Canon de 75 mle 1914 Schneider - Not used by the Dutch or KNIL.
7-veld 75mm L30.0 (D) Krupp M1903 - Standard field gun of the Dutch Army in 1940, with at least 304 in service in several variations.
75/35? 75mm (D) Krupp ? - A small number of these obsolete Krupp field guns were still used by the KNIL for beach defense in the NEI, but not by the Dutch at home.
? 75mm L22.0 (S) Mountain gun M1924 Bofors - Used by the KNIL, but not by the Dutch Army at home.
? 75mm L24.0 (S) Mountain gun M1930 Bofors - Not used by the Dutch or KNIL.
? 75mm (S) Mountain gun M1934 Bofors - Not used by the Dutch or KNIL.
8-staal 84mm (D) Krupp 1881 - 108 of these elderly Krupp field guns were still available in May 1940.
10-veld 105mm L40.0 (S) Bofors M1927 - 52 purchased from Bofors.
12 hw L12 120mm (D) Krupp M1912??? - 10 purchased from Krupp in 1908.
12 hw L14 120mm (S) Bofors M1918? - 48 or 50 purchased from Bofors circa 1912.
12 hwl 24 VG staal 125mm (D) Krupp 1878? swiss? - Old Krupp fortress guns acquired during the 1880's as the 12 lang staal.
15 hw L17 150mm (D) sFH13 - 44 purchased in 1919 from ex-German stocks.
15 hw L24 VG staal 150mm (D) Krupp? Swiss?- Old Krupp fortress guns acquired during the 1880's as the 15 lang staal.
15 hw L15 152mm (GB) Vickers 6in How - 30 or 32 purchased as surplus war material from the UK in 1920.

Re: Dutch artillery
The KNIL purchased 14 Bofors 105mm L/22 howitzers. I have seen them referred to as both M1924 and M1928 with delivery dates of 1924-25 or 1929, depending on source quoted. 12 of them were issued to the KNIL 1st Howitzer Battalion (A I Hw) with the remaining pair at the artillery depot at Tjimahi. Here is a photo from the now very long defunct KNIL History website of Stellan Bojerud. Most of the details seem to match very well with the second of the posted Bofors 105mm photos:Sturm78 wrote:Nobody for ym last two images ??
