ach! Sorry, been working, and hadn't checked here, I assumed that whomever ID'd the a/c, despite it being axis would be up. I'll dig through my saved images and see if I can come up with something suitable in the next hour.

Interesting idea to give new members something easier to identify.
Now, a question about markings on planes, not about planes. Which Air Force bore this marking in WW II ?

Not exactly XTBF-1, but a TBF-1 experimentally fitted with a Martin 2-gun turret.
Anyway, I'll accept your answer, as you identified the aircraft correctly.

Thanks Sitz. It was quite easy to identify the aircraft, the real difficulty was to tell the version.
Now: what is the aircraft in the foreground ? An exotic bird, for sure, but not really a difficult question.
