No. At the time of the mentioned engagement, the nation which the ship belonged to was still (officially) neutral.

Aleks,

On the picture you can see Quonset huts. These weren't available before 1942, so she can't have been sunk until then.

EDIT:

Oops, sorry. You said operation torch, that's in november 1942. I was confused with the sinking ofthe French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir.

next hint: one might say that this ship belonged to one of two "separate" navies :milwink: (the smaller one) of this state

and another hint: the "engagement" (actually, more than only one) had the character of a chase ...
