ID Belgian Light Gun
ID Belgian Light Gun
Any idea about the light gun in this picture ?
It looks like an early model of the 47 mm FRC without shield. It is is mounted on a special trailer for motorized towing.

Re: ID Belgian Light Gun
Hi Emmanuel,
IMO it's a Canon de 76 FRC with the optional 47 mm barrel inserted.

Thanks Marcus.
I've found pictures of the 76 mm infantry gun here:

Do you know if the 47 mm barrel was the same as the 47 mm FRC AT gun?

From the few photos I've seen the 47 mm barrel option for 76 FRC had a smaller outside diameter and more steps to the barrel than the 47 mm SA-FRC's. The weight difference between the 47/76 mm FRC and 47 mm SA-FRC (275 kg vs. 568 kg in firing position) suggests a lighter barrel in the earlier weapon as do the ballistically different AT shells: 1,55 kg at 600 m/s vs. 1,56 kg at 675 m/s (Source Panzerabwehrkanonen 1916-1977 by Franz Kosar).

A view of the first thread photo without watermark and another shot from Heigl's Taschenbuch der Tanks (1970 reprint of 1935 edition).
