Yugoslav command and control structure

#1

Post by MarkoZ » 12 Aug 2012, 15:28

Hi just been reading airwar for Yugoslavia Greece and Crete by Nicola Maliza, Brian Cull and Christopher Shores.

They talk about the Royal Famiyt being evacuated fom Pale in Bosnia to Mostar for Air Evacuation. Was there some sort of Command and control facility in Pale for the Yugoslav Government as seems to have existed in the recent War.

Does any body (EDGE) have any knowledge.

Likewise they had a nice new Headquarters building for the Airforce in Zemun was this also kitted out with Bunkers and Command and control facillities.

Thanks in anticipation

Marko

I had Serbian Xmas day diner with Father Stephan and Father Zarko Nedic, Father Stephan is from Sarajevo and told me that the Yugoslav Royal family had a Villa in Han Pijesak, there was also a command Bunker, radio and Deep laid landline system and underground facilities, they were moved to Pale when it became clear that all was lost in particular Croat elements of the army were in mutiny.
Pale had rail connections to Montenegro and also air strips were on hand.
Han Pijesak also featured in the recent war as it was the main command and control
Centre of the JNA. It was targeted by NATO who fired 13 cruise missiles at the C&c centre.
