Division de Chasseurs Ardennais

#1

Post by yantaylor » 31 Oct 2016, 14:16

Hi everyone, I have been trying to put together the support units attached to the two Divisions of de Chasseurs Ardennais circa 1940.
There is not a lot of information knocking about concerning the Belgian army so I thought that I would construct both divisions.
Here is what I have found so far;

1e Division de Chasseurs Ardennais
1st Chasseurs d’Ardennes Division
Divisional Headquarters
1st Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
2nd Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
3rd Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
Armoured Car Battalion ???????????????????????
Artillery Regiment?????????????????????????????????
Construction Regiment ??????????????????????????
Signals Battalion ?????????????????????????
Pioneer Battalion ?????????????????????????

2e Division de Chasseurs Ardennais
2nd Chasseurs d’Ardennes Division
Divisional Headquarters
4th Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
5th Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
6th Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment
Artillery Regiment???????????????????????????????
Signals Battalion ????????????????????????????
Pioneer Battalion ?????????????????????????????

As you can see there is quite a lot still missing.
Can anyone help?

Yan.

Mayby you better ask your question in the ABL Forum. (ABL = Armee Belge/Belgisch Leger) the forum about the belgian army.

Wim
Any information about Flemisch in German service (Waffen SS, OT, NSKK, Kriegsmarine, DRK, ...) during WWII is welcome.

Hi Wim and thanks for the link, I tried to sign up for the site but I kept failing, apparently only parts of the registration is in English and I kept typing in the wrong things in parts I couldn't understand.

Divisional units for the 2e Division de Chasseurs Ardennais were all numbered 20.
Information not passed on is lost.

No Wim, it keeps coming up as "You have provided an invalid answer to the question"

I have given my reason for joining the forum and it contains over fifty words.
The other small column, I went to the forum logo at the top right and copied a number of words, and still it blocks me.
Which is a shame, because it looks like a good site.

Hello Leo, your web site is legendary.

I checked out the artillery and signals concerning the Chasseurs Ardennais on your site and they have no numbers.

Hi Prosper, I did everything you showed above, so when you said when you must write a word standing near or under the logo, then you mean the logo on the top right of the page?

They read;

Hét ABL-History Forum
Het Belgische Leger, zijn geschiedenis, uniformen, uitrusting, bewapening en zoveel meer

Now I have tried a couple of these words with no success, are these the right words?

Hi Yan,
I tried a registration in dutch language and it was rejected also.
The reasons were:
The login was existing (Prosper seems very unusual I think)
and I wrote not enough text telling my interest (50 words are necessary)

And yes when I wrote about their logo your right.
Try to contact a adminstrator:
http://www.ablhistoryforum.be/memberlis ... ntactadmin
Sorry it's only in dutch language and you are invited to note a valid e-mail adress, your full name, and the reason why you are writing.
I read that the registration can be temporaly not available because there are to much membres but I am not sure at all.
Good luck and still very sorry for my poor english
Kindly regards from Belgium

Yes, you are right. But check this page:
    Planned Mobilized Organizations
Look under VII Army Corps.

Outstanding Leo, as always your work is superb.
On e question, would the battalions in the Chasseurs d’Ardennes divisions, be numbered?
Example;
1 to 9 (1st Division)
10 to 18 (2nd Division)

I was on a Belgian military site today and it mentioned about the 4th Chasseurs d’Ardennes Regiment having a 10th company and armed with FRCs, M79s and C47s.
Now I know what FRC and C47 are....but M79s?

Hi Yan
The answer is no:

In may 1940
1ère division de Chasseurs Ardennais ===>Major- General Descamps HQ at Neufchâteau (Province de Luxembourg)
2ème division de Chasseurs Ardennais===>Lieutenant - General Leyle HQ at Braives (Province de Liège)

Kindly regards
Prosper
