Pre-war Intelligence On Nazi Germany
Pre-war Intelligence On Nazi Germany
Hello I am wondering whether there are any British, American, Polish or Russian pre war intelligence documents on Nazi Germany that have been declassified and available to read preferably in English. They can be about any subject be it military or political but I am particularly interested in documents covering German military research, rearmament, military planning and documents giving opinion on the top Nazi leadership and organisations such as the SA, SS,SD.

Has lots and lots of documents lots of ww2 documents and reports and journals. I'm sure there would be something there.
The search "Germany Civil Affairs Handbook" for a comprehensive survey of Germany, politics, economics etc,

Williamson Murray "calculations" a book on how each country assessed the others capacity. Good book on the subject
Re: Pre-war Intelligence On Nazi Germany
At UK National Archives there are at least two areas where British intelligence collated material about the military and political material from and about Nazi Germany.
In WO 208 class list there are 30-40 files on MI 14 "appreciation reports" on Germany dating before and during WW2.
Secondly the JIC (Joint Intelligence Committee) files - or at least some of them are available for this period - go the National Archives website, click on "Discovery" and on the next page enter "Joint Intelligence Committee" in the search box and search numerous citations from various record groups/class lists

There is the US army book " Planning for Barbarossa" that discusses the planning for Barbarossa. Very good book.
