Joseph "Sepp" Wurmheller's FW 190 rudder has to be one of the most attractive and colorful tails around. AAF aircrews reported beautiful enemy aircraft being spotted during combat, and Wurmheller's colors & aircraft must have been one of those that were seen. Sepp mastered over the spitfire, and had numerous B-17 kills, but just after his 102nd kill in late June '44, he had a midair collision with his wingman while engaged with some P-47s. His score was not without some controversy, there were a few kills that were disputed such that the "kill tally" changed from one photo to another.
This piece of art is for sale- it is a full sized rendering, and stands about 65". Surprisingly lightweight, the frame is clad in aviation cloth.
