Re: ► Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
The struts were used to stabilize the headlights mounted on the fenders. The fenders tended to vibrate a lot, as they were only attached to the body of the vehicle by a few bolts. Which is why most headlights were fixed to the body.Maxschnauzer » Wed 10.08.16 – 01:06
I believe this is a Magirus M 30 of the mid 1930's but what are those struts or cables between the bonnet and front wings?

Hey! The first one has the logo of Panhard et Levassor. I think the second is a Mercedes-Benz.

Thanks for the information Leo. I believe that's the first time I've seen that, usually that model looks like the one below.Leo Niehorster wrote:The struts were used to stabilize the headlights mounted on the fenders. Re: your post of 21 Sep 2016,04:34, the bus looks very similar to this Leyland from the coachbuilder Zagórski of Poznan, Poland:

A Citroen that was labeled as being in Malta. I've never seen one like this before.

For more fun in the file name it is specified further: an Italian bus in Malta

Re: ► Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Italien is Italy in German. Italienisch would be Italian. The full title was "A292 Italien Malta - LKW Beute Citroen Frankreich Nummernschild - Südfront"
Re: ► Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
Thanks for that, but the things became more confusing, I'm afraid. Where the bus was shot? In Italy, in Malta, or in certain "Italian Malta"? Also, what is this definition: "number plate from the South front"? Were they somewhat special?
Cheers!

Re: ► Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
I am not sure the meaning. The title is written as 'tags' so the auction is found easily, but this appears as an incoherent sentence. Still, it is a rare image.ilfil wrote:Thanks for that, but the things became more confusing, I'm afraid. Where the bus was shot? In Italy, in Malta, or in certain "Italian Malta"?
