Another GAZ - this one with a cross on the side which wasn't too common

Re: GAZ-AA & GAZ-AAA in use by the Axis or Russia
GAZ undergoing repair with camo scheme perhaps German grey with sand over the top?
Also it looks like a box has been added to the side of the cargo area just behind the cab. I also thought there could be a 'vehicle width locker' in front of the cargo area but cannot exactly work it out from the photo.
Also has the rear outer wheel been removed?
Any ideas?

I think that this is some sort of bus or command bus based on the GAZ AA chassis,
Kerry.

Re: GAZ-AA & GAZ-AAA in use by the Axis or Russia
Hi Kerry:
I have some pretty good Russian soft skin sites in my bookmark library and a lot of photos in my photo archives on the computer, but I could not match the exact body style of your GAZ AA.
I am pretty sure it is not a bus, wrong window configuration. I think it may well be either some sort of Office truck or perhaps a Postal truck, Paymaster Truck or maybe even a Mobile Canteen. It looks to me like the windows behind the second large door are some sort of split halfway and perhaps could be opened at the top or the bottom.
As always, I will keep looking.
Cheers
Bill

Re: GAZ-AA & GAZ-AAA in use by the Axis or Russia
Hello all.
The gasified truck posted in 22 June seems to be German-modified because serial GAZ-42 looke different.
The bus on GAZ-AAA chassis posted on 24 June is GAZ-05-193.
The trailer posted the same day later seems to be a 1-AP-1, though I'm not sure about the correct designation because of lack of reliable sources.
