Re: GAZ-AA & GAZ-AAA in use by the Axis or Russia
I have an idea that this is a German modification to a GS version of the GAZ-AAA seen above, rather than a Russian production vehicle.

I don't think so. There were quite a lot of slightly different versions of PARM-A (lighter and more numerous repair vehicle), check http://panzer35.ru/forum/18-10624-369708-16-1372342869 and http://panzer35.ru/forum/22-1834-71955-16-1271864396 for photos and still frames.LarryH57 wrote:I have an idea that this is a German modification to a GS version of the GAZ-AAA seen above, rather than a Russian production vehicle.

I think this GAZ is one of the Wood Burning variants, the GAZ-42

The rear body of the above 'GAZ-AAA' looks nothing like a GAZ but the cab does, So I wonder if an old cab is used on another type of vehicle or the other way round and its a new body type on a GAZ-AAA chassis?

Likely a new bed on a GAZ-AAA chassis. The rear fenders are a nice addition.
Re: ► Photothread: GAZ-AA & GAZ-AAA in use by the Axis or Russia
The rear fenders also are an excellent recognition point. This is AA-based Ford Sussex 6x4. With longer chassis and wheelbase than GAZ-AAA, it is well visible on the picture.Luftflotte2 wrote:Likely a new bed on a GAZ-AAA chassis. The rear fenders are a nice addition.

Good job! I don't recall seeing an early 6x4 like that before.

Have one, "militarized" simply by deleting the dual rear wheels, on army trials at Farnborough in 1933:Luftflotte2 wrote:Good job! I don't recall seeing an early 6x4 like that before.

Most probably this truck was drawn from some civilian export batch: note it is LHD!
Cheers!
