virus(es) in ww2f

Postby Karelia on 28 May 2012 15:08

I've been posting in ww2f lately using "Karjala" (Karelia in Finnish) as my alias. Now my computer gives warnings that the site contains attack programs.

Has anybody else noticed this or is somebody just trying to silence me personally? Do the site administrators now about this?

:welcome:

Google has the "This site may harm your computer." warning on search results from that forum so it is not only your computer. See also http://www.stopbadware.org/reports/b540 ... 07edcb6d39
Hopefully the site owner is aware of the problem and working hard at fixing it, sometimes it is not easy to locate and fix the issue.

/Marcus

Google has been showing that to me as well. I wonder if the site was attacked?

The problem appears to be malware in the third party adds on the site.
It is still up and running and some get the warnings and some do not.

There is a pretty comprehensive thread about it on another site and the latest crisis starts on page 7

[u]WARNING!! WARNING!!! A Polish thief and Troll, is now on THIS site!!!

I wanted it to be made well aware to all the membership who collect Militaria, that a very well-known dirtbag, scoundrel, thief bastard by the name of Pawel, is now on THIS site and may contact you by Email-as is per it's Method of Operation, and who will send you a detailed list of Original Militaria for sale for cheap prices. Many people I know from Militaria forums have been scammed by this Sphincter-Muscle and bilked out of large sums of money. Most recently it trolled over on the WW2 militaria collectors-War relics forum. Uniforms, Guns, helmets, battlefield archeology site and a few members there fell victim to this prick.

What pawel (now known as "IT") joins sites just so IT can gather in email addresses of the membership from those sites so that IT can scam them out of money with militaria that IT does not own. This Fu@@@@ sent me an email this morning and I KNOW it came from here because I use a certain email address for this site alone-so I KNOW IT got it from this site.

Waldzee,

Any particular reason that you dredged up the quote from 2009 thread??? And which the last activity on the thread was August 17, 2009, so it is not like there is even any recent activity on the thread.

Further, it sounds that the e-mail was freely given to the person in question, and NOT the result of a hack.

The problem is indeed ongoing.
I 'risked' a visit to the site a day ago and a download was caught and blocked.
I find it incredible that the situation is allowed to continue and even though I knew better I still went to the site-there is no protection against stupidity!

The email address 'harvesting' mentioned above was done by someone joining and simply copying the details of members rather than anything to do with a hack.
