Best 1/35 figure painter?

#1

Post by Orok » 05 Nov 2003, 23:10

Who do you consider the best 1/35 figure painter ever? I think the best is Mr. Stefan Müller-Herdemertens of Germany. I also like the works of Bill Horan and Calvin Tan. For acrylic painter my favorate is Jaume Ortiz.

It's a shame we don't have books written by them on this topic, except Bill Horan's old msterclass book. It's about painting 100mm scale and historical figures, not much value for 1/35 WWII figure painting.

What do you guys think?

Best Regards!

Look here, http://www.missing-lynx.com/gallery/german/smhzun.htm

This is a 1/35 the guy did almost ten years ago! Nowadays his technics are much more mature. But he refuses to publish his works either in print or on the net, unless the pictures can faithfully reflect his work. Which as we all know sadly most of the time can not do the job.

The guy once said he would trim his brush and left only THREE hairs on it to paint all the details. Can you believe this? 8O

Does anybody have both the Osprey book Panzer Modelling 2nd Edition by Tony Greenland and a scanner. If you do perhaps you can post the pictures of 1/35 figures painted by Stefan Müller-Herdemertens appeared at pages 77 and 79. They are astounding!

I believe the same pictures are also in the 1st edition of the book but I don't know the page number.

Thanks and Best Regards!

Hi all, I've seen the work of 'Steg' on ebay. Pretty damn good. I heard he paints about 20 of these figures a week. I tried to get him to do some work for me but he never does commission work. A funny character indeed, bit temperamental by all accounts but that aside, quite a talent.
