Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
Many thanks for your kind comments, Ace31! I didn't know about T-34/85 history. Perhaps this one was a prototype which
entered the service unofficially in late 1943.

Perhaps. AFAIK Kursk was in July, which would traditionally be considered the 'middle' of 1943.Model Maniac wrote: Perhaps this one was a prototype which

FWIW, the driver looks too stiff.

Fine work! I see the T-34 has shed a tread but do not understand what caused it, having looked for an antitank hit or mine detonation. The moving haze in the photo I momentarily expected was smoke from the disabled tank.

Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
Nice diorama!
I'm afraid though that no T-34/85s, prototype or otherwise was at Kursk.
Best,
David

Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
It's a fine diorama, by any standards! One I would have been proud to have built!
Please remember that and not the historical objections. It would fit beautifully into any 1945 drama!!!
Very Best,
David

Hello
Yet another outstanding model indeed.
And, as i read the text, the only thing that indicates Kursk 1943 is that the used tank crew are:
"Master Box's Russian Tank Crew, Kursk 1943 "
Thats no indication of that the diorama is showing Kursk 1943 - is it? Its nametag are "Bail out", right?
So the historical objections are - in my viuw - wrong placed
Regards
Kurt

Uh, the historical objections are directed at the tank, not the crew.

I agree with Kurt's suggestion that the historical objections are wrong placed, whether they are directed at the crew
or the tank. You see, I didn't tell the year in which this scene took place and the diorama name is just "Bail Out!".
So any tanks with any figures will fit just fine.

Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
Michael Wittmann's unit reported engaging one during the Battle of Prokhorovka.

I don't think that Wittman was anywhere near the battle of Kursk!

Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
You might consider instead using the Russian term for crew evacuation, with "Bail Out!" in parentheses. I do not know what that is, but it should be easy to find or ask (and to get in Cyrillic, as well as the Roman alphabet).Model Maniac wrote:... What knocked out the tank tread and injured the crewman in this scene, by the way?

Re: Diorama "Bail Out!"
Wow, I love the dio, it looks great! You're very talented!
If you look carefully, there is a hole in the tree and it looks like its burnt out around there, too. Did the shell go through the tree and hit the tank?
Anyway, when did all the critics start posting? Its excellent work. Just like a piece of string, if the crewmember was being pulled, his body would look like that. If they were just standing in that position, it would sag - but I don't imagine they would be standing in such an ackward position with the enemy around.
