Modelling tips needed
I had purchased a Tamiya US Infantry set a while ago and I'm just now going to be painting and assembling them. I'm thinking of doing a Bastogne diorama with them. I was thinking for barbed wire, to paint some copper wire snowy-silver, roll it up somewhat, and then stick the ends onto two small clothespins. Would this work? Also, what US armor should I get to face off against my Svedza Panther Ausf. D? Just a regular old Sherman? Or maybe a TD of some sort? Thanks for all your input!

Hello!
The cooper wire is a good resource to make barbed wire. About the USA armors can be Sherman M4A3 or an destroyer M-10.
Good luck with your Project
Regards!

Re: Modelling tips needed
I guess it depends on how realistic you want to be, or how much time you wish to spend building the wire. I work in 1/72 or 20mm scale and generally use the plastic window screen material. Spray it silver, dry brush some rust color and it's ready to go. Take a sharp X-acto and cut between 2 strands. I am setting up my camera to take some model pictures today, and will get an example.
That works good in the smaller scale. For the larger scales you can either build your own or buy commercial.
Build your own:

Commercially available, this eBay listing shows a bunch of different types available. I have bought the Army Painter wire however have not used it yet to date.

Hope this helps some

This build will be 1/72 also. I think the clothespin/copper wire thing might be alright, because the barbed wire won't really be that big of a detail.

My apologies on this, totally forgot.
Here is one way I use window bug screen to represent barbwire. I will also roll it and glue it down to a base and slice the strands for concertina wire.
This is a unfinished piece. The quarter is just shy of an inch, or 2.5 cm.

Re: Modelling tips needed
I ran into a problem with my Panther. It's an Ausf. D, and I don't think those would be used by the time of Ardennes. I'm researching the changes made from the D to the A or G because I know both of those were used during the battle. This might allow me to convert my D. I will be asking for an M4A3(76)W Sherman for my birthday in a month or two. After that I will be searching for a suitable base and various foliage.

I think I'm going to make it a "late" D, which was basically an Ausf. D hull with an Ausf. A turret. Now there's just figuring out how to mod the turret. I'm not sure where or how I could get the rounded hull-MG port to make fully make it an Ausf. A.

I've looked at the Dragon kit and unfortunately that will not do, it is still not the correct cupola.
