Tired of plastic model kits and looking for a new challenge? Try some papercraft modelling. Usually all you need a lot of heavy bond paper (90lbs. for example), and pattern that you printout. Sharp scissors and knives to cut out the pieces and then lots of patience time and glue to fold and put the pieces together into a 3D object.

I stumbled across some sites last night that have a wide range of modelling subjects fro civilian to military vehicles and other objects. There are even 1:1 scale papercraft models of AKM-74, AR-15, M-16, and M-14 assault rifles. At least one of them has some operable parts, such as a fire selector switch.
