For some reason Yak 9 has not been much touched by kit manufacturers although it was one of the most built fighters of WW2. I have been trying to find a Yak 9 which would be easy to put together (not any short-run stuff and annoying fitting problems).
Are there any good Yak 9 kits of 1:72 or 1:48 available for "less experienced" modellers?
The Dakoplast Yak 9 in 1:72 has been viewed highly (http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/ModelReviews/ ... _yak9.html) but a quick search from the ebay showed that it is not easy to find. A-model is out of question for me and also ICM is not much to my taste - I have built couple of their kits, not so bad but I would like to build something "easier" and probably better...
Recommandable Yak 9 kit?
Re: Recommandable Yak 9 kit?
Dakoplast company is long defunct. AFAIK Yak-9 kits from their moulds appear in boxes of Eastern Express (as did Lagg-6 ser.66) and Moldelist. Reworked kit with PE and resin is in Valom box, but from what i gather it is late bubble canopy Yak-7b early / Yak-9 with rounded wingtips which is expensive as hell due to PE and resin.
ICM 1/72 kit is a horror in small package and needs some correcting to get it to look like Yak-9 - been there done that (can still list main modifications after few years)
