You're scratchbuilding the Dora in 1:35? That'll be over 3 meters long when finished!
I don't see the gun yet, where is it? Anyway, more power to you, I wanna see the finished Dora.

only scratch

Postby panzer67 on 11 Apr 2006 07:55

scratch all the model until now i have done more than 5000 pieces based on a set of plans

i consider will finish this year and the main gun is not finished until now, must be worked on a turning lathe in nylamid or engeneering plastics to save weight because is more than 70 cms long.

the model is 6 fet longer and 2 feet height and a foot widht

will upload more pics as i have more advance as i scape from depression ( this week i finish the br 75, br 86 and br 52 locomotives)
so i think must get it after these lokos.

cheers

Your Dora will be only 6 feet long? I've heard that Fujimi's Dora 1:144 is about 80 cm long,
1:35 is 4 times bigger so it should be around 320 cm in length. The barrel of the real thing
is 106.6 feet long, so at 1:35 it should be 3.045 feet or 93 cm, not just 70 cm as you quoted.

references...

Postby panzer67 on 12 Apr 2006 08:09

my reference is a set of 9 engeneering plans and the size is right, the dimensions in 1/144 are wrong because a model of 80 cms in 1/144 is in 1/1 a 115.2 mts long... too longest

watch the size of the boogies from the model and the soldier is 1/35.

is alot of work and this year must be finished ¡¡¡

will, upload more pics when assemble all the boogies to the rails and set the primary beams and plattform to boogies ( i think next month...

Hello,

Wow, great to see this model, especialy in 1/35 scale.
I love modelling, sorry to say a don't have much time for it these days.
Scratch-building is super, never tryed it myself.
You know the scale model is longer than the cartridge-case is high!!
For a photo of the cartridge-case see my website:
http://www.awmm.org
I have it in my ammunition collection. It's really big. Hight: 130cm, width: 100cm and it weights about 350kg empty! I really would like to get a projectile in my collection :D , but it weights about: the light one 4800kg and the heavy one 7000kg. Tough job to get it here 8O .
Up untill a few years ago, a undercarridge was still present in Germany, don't know if it's still there.
Good luck and happy building on finishing this great model!!!

Wow, that's AWESOME!!! I'm interested in trying to tackle this project but haven't been able to find any plans and only a handful of decent pics on google. Where did you find engineering plans? Any chance they're available for purchase somewhere? Thanx!
