This book looks like the author is trying to take on what Isaev already wrote about in his "Ot Dubno do Rostova."

In part, it includes the fighting in the 'Triangle' mentioned in the above named book, the large number of mech corps ordered to stop the Germans, the problems they encountered, etc.

Vladimirsky described the battle (or at least a part of it) long before Isaev. I think the real reason for such popularity is that a large amount of primary sources from the Soviet side are readily available, I mean "Collection of combat documents" #33 and 36.

Isaev is the one I associate with it because he's fresh in my mind, the description of this book simply reminded me of his. Are these combat document collections available online?

Never heard of him, I found it odd that someone could be writing on this and not be a part of the 'inner circle' in which everyone knows everyone else, for better or worse.

Yes, I read it. It's an interesting book but greatly lacking in citations, making it somewhat useless to scholars and academics.

Bieshanovs books also lack citations. Don't know if you read them, but something in the same style?
