Well, don't give up all hope just yet!

Last night I was extremely lucky and found a complete set of all 8 first edition volumes of Wolfgang Vopersal's "Soldaten, Kämpfer, Kameraden" (cloth bound hardcovers with their dust jackets, except for volume Va which is softcover) in near-mint condition at a used book store for just under $290 US!!!

Until yesterday I had only read through the one volume (Va) a friend owns, but before going to bed I gave a quick glance through the others. Even with my very basic knowledge of the German language these are going to come in extremely useful in researching the TK Division. I saw many photographs that were completely new to me and I've already found detailed information on the death of one of the division's very first KIA's who's SS-Soldbuch I possess in my collection.

These sets are out there, you just need to be very persistent and patient...a little bit of luck doesn't hurt, either!

Rob, you are a lucky, lucky, lucky man. :)

Va is fairly easy to get hold of (not cheaply, but it is out there). I've never seen a copy of Vb (the volume I want...) on the market - eBay, Bookfinder, I trail them all in vain. There was talk of it being reprinted, but I've not seen any more on that yet.

Richard-

Yes, I did get 'extremely' lucky with that find! A local used book store recently acquired a very large collection of old Military books and has been putting them out in waves over the last month or so. I've been making it a point to stop by whenever they put new books on the shelves, and when I walked in the door last night, there they were.

Regarding Vb, I'll keep my eyes open for you!

Vopersal is outstanding, but to be honest, to produce that what I need he should have done 4 or 5 more Volumes....I am now sitting of a few NARA rolls about the Division between 1939 and 1942, and there is still amazingly much stuff to discover :D

The same author has a book about Totenkopf's panther battalion. I have a copy and I can say that it is a useful book, written in a war-diary like style.

There are several books in electronic form:

God created the Internet, but devil created Darknet.
