A review of "Dönitz's last gamble: The Inshore U-Boat Campaign 1944-45" by Lawrence Patterson has been added to the site.

btw. The idea with these threads are to encourage discussions on the books reviewed so they can be an addition to the reviews on the site.

Many thanks Marcus. I didn't have time to review this latest book of Lawrence's other than very cursorily, but I did his previous volume, U-boat Combat Missions, here:

there is an excellent essay on UBoat.net on the discovery of UBoat wrecks off the UKs west coast, The loss of U235, U400 & U1021 which deals precisely with this subject and timeframe.

The one he did with all the 'unseen photos' which he found in a box at the submarine museum was excellent, too. He used to live around the corner from me and I had a long chat with him one day about all his research. He has reams and reams of microfilms at his house (which are rather easier to store than the 100+ lever arch and box files in mine... :) )
