... and Fischer Verlag then push out the paperback, but I can never wait that long normally. :)

Die 900tägige Belagerung Leningrads stellt eines der großen Verbrechen des Ostkrieges dar. Das Schicksal der Zivilbevölkerung, die im Umland der Metropole an der Neva unter die Herrschaft der Wehrmacht geriet, ist jedoch bis jetzt in der Forschung vernachlässigt worden.
Die vorliegende Studie zeigt hier ausführlich die vielfältigen Motive und Handlungsoptionen eines militärisch dominierten Besatzungsapparates. Denn auch im russischen Nordwesten kam es zu eklatanten Verstößen gegen Völkerrecht und Humanität (Ermordung von Juden, Roma und Geisteskranken, rücksichtslose Partisanenbekämpfung).

More occupation studies!


There is a constant output of occupation studies (it's where the funding goes), but good studies of military operations are much rarer in Germany these days (it's where the funding goes not), so I am grateful for each new one that appears from time to time.

Got a copy from my local library on Tuesday and have read the first chapter so far. Very promising.
