Great things already cast their shadows ahead ! :D

The volume 6 ”Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei” (”Ullmann - Ritter von Zottmann”") by Andreas Schulz and myself is on the way to the printing press and will be published not later than October/November 2012 !!

Nine years after the first edition of “Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei” we are proud to present soon the sixth and presumably last volume with 692 pages. All bios but one have a pic, many of them privately owned and published for the first time.
Many notices from the areas Technische Nothilfe (Hans Weinreich, Franz Wenzel), fire service (Gustav Wagner, Dr. Otto Zaps) and military administration department (Dr. Richard Wagner, Dr. Otto Wächter, Paul Zimmermann) will be published for the first time. The multiple capabilities and careers of Paul Zimmermann are exciting in many more details just as - concerning Dr. Otto Wächter - the involvement in the NS-attempted coup in Austria, his time as governor of Galicia and his death in the Vatican.
It should not go unnoticed that many of the generals had to suffer from private affairs (sexual exploits) with serious consequences for the occupational development (for example Dr. Richard Wagner and Hans Weinreich).
Highly-interesting are the genealogical relationships of Durchlaucht Josias Georg Wilhelm Adolf Erbprinz zu Waldeck und Pyrmont with the European dynasties and the high nobility.
The Lord Mayor of Hof, Dr. Richard Wendler, related to Himmler’s brother Gebhard, was involved as governor of the area Krakow in the relentless pursuit of the Polish Jews.
Udo von Woyrsch, an example for the furor teutonicus, was known for his morbid combativeness and unscrupulousness.
Dr. med. Gerd Unbehaun provides bizarre details for the history of german fenching student’s fraternities when Himmler stops a duel with pistols. Primarily a duel with sabres and bare unprotected upper torso was arranged until the combatant was unable to fight on account of a bone fracture.
The postwar-career of Waldemar Wappenhans allowed his appointment as a referee for the alliied “Property-Control“, Otto Winkelmann became councilior in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein.
The artful come into existence of the defined surrender in Italia offers fascinating stuff in the chapter Karl Wolff. The rise and the fall of an enigmatic character, the “general with the clean record”, has to be demonstrated on 75 pages.

Hi Dieter,

Purely as a matter of interest, who is the one individual that has escaped a photograph?

What was the obstacle in tracking his likeness down?

Cheers,

Sid.

It is "Landesführer der TN auf Lebenszeit " and Oberst der Schutzpolizei (mit dem Recht zur Führung der Amtsbezeichnung “Generalmajor der Polizei“) Franz Michael Wenzel.

The NSDAP-Mitgliedskarte Franz Wenzel (Bundesarchiv Berlin) or the TN-Akte Franz Wenzel (Bundesarchiv Berlin), already consisting of one page, do not contain a pic. Our research for other sources was without any result.

Recently received my copy of this final volume of the definitive study on the topic. Few grasp the sheer magnitude of the topic and effort needed to compile it, aside from the fact they did so in a brief time considering the scope of the study.

Bravo and congratulations are normal for such an effort, an accomplishment in the most extreme sense of the word.

Understanding perhaps better than many the coordination of data for all various predecessors, successors, data on other personnel mentioned, the effort is even more amazing as is the amount of work involved.

Personally, I extend my thanks and congratulations to the authors for among the very best multi-volume works on the SS and Polizei ever written.

I was wondering if there is volume 7 (1921-1932 Polizei-Kommandeur) ?
I've got 6 books (Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei, 1-6 )
