John Plant - British Army Books

Has anyone read his books on the cruiser/infantry tank warfare? I am considering getting his 1st Armoured Division history, but want to make sure it might actually be useful.

Many thanks in advance!
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

I bought the Infantry book and thought it was good enough to get the Cruiser book too. Despite the lack of a scholarly apparatus I think they're worth the money, because they contain descriptions of army manuals and concepts which aren't always evident in other books. There are a few typos and other infelicities of layout but then, commercial publishers are no better these days. Plant took the trouble to get ISBNs as well.
