Maybe an odd question, but my interest is going just to the 'Wiking' and 'Nederland' units during 1940-45.
Are the units on seperate CD's or do I have to buy all of these great CD's???

Hope someone can tell me :?

Must say some words about a genius amongst the SS-specialists!

Some days ago I asked John P. MOORE for some additional facts about an ancestor in the SS.

Because of the difficult situation for researcher here in Germany, I didn'd thought at the beginning that it would bring me SO MUCH in new informations, files, official documents and photos as I recei-ves indeed only 2 weeks after my request. Now that I received the Data-CD full of facts abt. my an-cestor and with an official seal of our German custom office, that they have checked the content and foud NO(!) reason to beef about, I'm very thankful to John for all the vacancies he filled with his CD!
I will go on authorizing him for any further researching jobs, 'cause - he's the best...
I've got more informations in this week from him than in 1 year of wild hunting for myself in the internet and all the well known forums! Thanx again to him! Great and hi-resolutioned documents!

Thanks for posting your happy news, mme.

I can only agree to the highest degree- John Moore is a great treasure to this forum and the historical research community as a whole. We are incalculably grateful to have him. I know that may sound a bit flowery, but it's quite sincere.

I can only echo Mike's comments. For me, he is a National Treasure.

John's research material is very reasonably priced, excellent quality and the presentation and turnaround time is superb. He always digs up the unexpected and above all he is a thoroughly decent, honourable man.

I would recommend no other person to conduct research and have happily passed his name on to many people who have all come back to me with the same glowing reports after dealing with him.

I think that may be as flowery as Mike's comments, but I cannot speak highly enough of John and his work.

For many years I try to dip deep into the past of the greatest in Europe underground communication center of the Waffen-SS near Berlin as a hobby-historian.
I was looking for any information about it in the internet, asked the WAST and visited the Bundesarchiv in Berlin and Freiburg. I ordered advertisements in several papers to find radio veterans. But all the results were very poor!
By change I saw the posts of John about his "Fuehrerliste" in this AHF. I contacted John and one week later his grand work was also on my desktop. The first time in my life I saw such a objective document about officers of the Waffen-SS. I've got more informations by John´s help than in many years researching before.
There are informations about the social parentage, professional qualfications, military career, battle operations, many private photos and also their way after the end of the war. And all is written neutral without any political relations. A rich source for any military historian! Today the most of all my own questions are answered and I was able to tell with some living radio veterans even. It is not conceivable, how many years John had to write for finish this exceptional book. John created a memorial for the radio troops and for himself with his work. My congratulations, John!

Manfred (toni1978) Thanks for your kind words. I have very much enjoyed working with you. Here is a link to his excellent Web page about "Der Fuchsbau"

http://nva-fuchsbau.privat.t-online.de/fbz001.htm

-----

Bjarne Böttcher - There is no photo or other documents of Dr. Herbert Böttcher in my CD publications because he did not belong to any of the featured categories. However, I do have his Personalakte on microfilm and a good photo is also included. Send me a PM if you would like to obtain a special CD from me with those records and photo for a fee. Also, Dr, Herbert Böttcher was promoted to SS-Brigadeführer in November 1944. Consequently, he is featured with photo in Volume 1 of "Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei" by Andreas Schulz and the publication on SS-Brigadeführers by Mike Miller and Andreas Schulz.

The Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) should be able to help you. See the link below for advice from a fellow forum member regarding a similar situation.

This is the correct URL for the Deutsche Dienststelle

Fritz Vogt

Post by NightKnight » 12 Feb 2008, 10:18

[quote="John P. Moore"]JW - Thanks for the favorable comments.

I am new to this forum and I was wondering if you could possible help with some information on Fritz Vogt. My mother is his cousin and grew up in Munchen with him. She has told me many stories of him and his father. She is quite convinced that early in the war he was awarded a beautiful dagger with gemstones for rescuing some civilian hostages in, she thinks, Serbia or Croatia. Him and his team sweeped in and did the rescue before any shots could be fired. She also believes he was in the Legion Condor in Spain. I have not been able to verify either of these. It was only a few years ago that we found where Fritz was buried. I have also noticed in a few of the pictures of him there was a video camera man. I wonder if any of those movies of him still exist. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to help "NightKnight" in obtaining the complete 30 page Personalakte of Fritz Vogt along with other material from various sources. One of them was a touching story found in a 1983 "Der Freiwillige" about Fritz Vogt written by Karl Ullrich, his former division commander, who was present at Vogt's side as he was dying from his wounds.
