Simon & Schuster has just released my study of all allied air ops over Japan. Whirlwind covers AAF, USN, USMC, and Royal Navy operations over the home islands in 1944-45. Now listed on Amazon.com:

Hi all,

My novel, A TRACE OF SMOKE, follows crime reporter heroine Hannah Vogel on an insider's tour of 1931 Berlin, as she desperately searches for her brother's killer ... a trail that leads through the city's darkest secrets to the top ranks of the rising Nazi party.

The paperback is out and to celebrate I am giving them away. I'd like to give away two copies (names randomly drawn from the cloche hat I bought at, of all places, Target). To get your name into the hat, please sign up for my mailing list at:

I'm doing a couple of giveaways, so please enter AX as your middle name in the form so I can keep you straight.

Thanks, and happy reading!

Good day all,

I would like to take this opportunity and introduce to everyone my new book, Rampant Lion , chronicling the life of Eduard Ritter von Schleich, the WWI flying ace. It has taken some five years to get to this point, and I have to say that I am quite excited about the finished product! At this point I would like to describe the book in detail, in order to let all of you all know what has been included between the covers

Hello

Is this still available Darren?

My book, Battleground Prussia, was published last week in UK, and will be released in USA next week.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battleground-Pr ... 824&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Battleground-Prus ... 217&sr=8-1

A lot of material had to be excised from the 'final' draft to make it small enough for publication, and I have placed some of this removed material on my website, http://www.buttar.org.uk

I've been thinking of purchasing this book, did not know it was yours. I'm guessing it's mainly from the German POV?

Kunikov, I think it's fair to say that the balance lies with the German point of view, but it is not exclusively so. Where I had access to Soviet sources, I used them.

Can you give me an impression of the types of sources you've used for the Soviet side? Soviet/post Soviet? "Official", memoirs, monographs?

Soviet era - the memoirs of the 'usual suspects', Rokossovsky, Batov etc. Also Zavalyov's account of the drive to the Baltic.

Post-Soviet era - Kobylyanskiy's book 'From Stalingrad to Pillau', and some of the sources quoted by Merridale in 'Ivan's war'.

Thanks, I'll probably try to get it at some point (won't be out in the states for another 2 days).
