I am pleased to announce another major update of Generals.dk. The database now includes 18818 generals, and though most of the updates have been done on the Chinese generals then additional information has been added to the generals in the Japanese and US sections as well as other sections. Just as additional photos has been added to numerous sections.

I’m pleased to announce yet another update to the database, which now includes 19578 generals. Most of the resent update has been done on the Chinese section, now including 3205 generals – all official granted generals rank by the National Government between 1935 and 1945 as well as numerous who held a field or post rank of general during that period. Information has also been added to a lot of other sections also, and photos has been added in particular to the Dutch, Italian and Soviet sections.

Enjoy!

If I understand Steen's point right, these are not total numbers of generals, but merely numbers of generals in his database (which I assume is by no means complete)?

The Wehrmacht certainly must have had more than 258 generals.

Also, I think Steen is including e.g. Brigadiers in the Commonwealth armies in his database. These were not generals, inflating the number he gives for Commonwealth generals.

See e.g. http://www.generals.dk/general/Hargest/ ... aland.html

So this appears to be 'just' info about the content of the database, not information you can use for national comparisons.

In any case, it is good work!
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

Hi Steen, sorry for my long absence due to a crazily busy year. Hope everything goes well with you and your database.

Noticed that you're doing very well in your Chinese Generals section. Remember my updates just came across "Chen". Will resume my part and guess with many other friends' effort we can work it out in near future.

Thank you again for your great contribution in WWII bio database, for us fans.

Cheers

I have just made another major update to the database adding a lot of new photos and information within the Australian, British, New Zealand, Yugoslav and other nations - I hope you will enjoy.

Then my apologies to henryk, Urmel, 79seconds and Matteus for not responding to their previous post – I have simply missed them.

Urmel is correct the numbers only represent the numbers of generals in my database not a total (yet :D ).

Thank you to 79seconds for the support over the years I have appreciated the help on the Chinese generals.

And Matteus, the database couldn’t have been made without the assistance of others, and I always appreciate it with somebody is willing to share information or a picture. This still goes so drop me a PM or mail :)

Now as henryk points out I am missing a lot of Germans. I have so far neglected them because we have Mike’s excellent ABR but a database on WW2 generals won’t be complete without them, so I will start adding them.

Hello Steen, about a year ago we talked about the year of birth and death of Gen Nedic, Milan and Milutin being reversed on your site. Please correct Milan's dates to 1882-1946, and Milutin's dates to 1877-1945. Thank you, Harry

Hi Harry,

It is actually most confusing, and I actually believe that it is the other way around. That Milan was born in 1877 and Milutin in 1882. It is difficult because different sources gives different dates, however the most authoritative work on Yugoslav generals ‘Generali i admirali Kraljevine Jugoslavije 1918-1941 : studija o vojnoj eliti i biografski leksikon’ by Mile Bjelajac has Milan’s date of birth as September 2, 1877 while he gives Milutin’s October 26, 1882. So I think I will stick with that.
