I'm sure they would. And as I'm sure that most of our American members would like your idea mentioned but with the state they reside in flag split with the American.

Unfortunately the ip-addresses are not defined on a state level in the data the flags are based on.

I don't know how it could be in the case of the UK. The first thing I've noticed after coming to this country is an extremely low presence of the British flags. Everybody uses the English, Welsh or Scottish ones instead.

The ip-addresses are registered on British companies, not Welsh, English or Scottish, this means that the system unfortunately does not know if a certain address is from Wales or Scotland.

God knows how Time Warner Roadrunner in Dacron Ohio got a Canadian IP. address.
Not that I mind.... maybe they know that my Dad's Dad went north in 1914 to join the Canadian Artillery ( and survived with nothing worse than a horse kick in the belly ) ....or that I watch a lot of Fox Soccer Channel out of Canada...
In point of fact I'm still a British Subject - her Majesty's a pretty nice girl...
Although, in view of my personal politics, maybe a Hammer and Sickle would be appropriate...Neil, Accidental American.

RE: Flags And Those Challenged To Identify Them.

Postby Robert Rojas on 03 Nov 2009 05:24

Greetings to Chairman Wendel, his august lieutenants and the community as a whole. Howdy Marcus! Well sir, in continuing reference to your introductory posting of Wednesday - October 28, 2009 - 7:43pm, old Uncle Bob was (and is) curious if it would be both possible and practical to include some sort of KEY or LEGEND to cross reference the nationality of any given flag which is now generated on the forum. The inclusion of such a KEY or LEGEND would certainly be quite helpful for those of us who do necessarily recognize the flags of such exotic locales as GUINEA-BISSAU or UPPER VOLTA. It's just a friendly, if not practical, suggestion. Thank you in advance for entertaining my latest Yankee two cents worth on this creation of yours. As always, I would like to bid you an especially copacetic day over in the land of the Midnight Sun.

Best Regards,
Uncle Bob  :) 8-)

Bob,

The name of the country is included as an alternative text to the flag images so depending on your browser you can either just place the mouse point over the icon or right-click to check the properties of the icon see the country name.

My mouse only has ONE BIG BUTTON, right in the middle... :D
Does that mean I'm neither "rightist" or "leftist" but an "in-betweener" or simply a Mac user

May I have a Union Jack please? I presume I've been allocated the Stars and Stripes on the grounds I was with AOL when I first joined.
