Howdy. I'm an American guy living in S. Korea since 1996. Am also a grad student in Humanities at Cal State (distance learning). Got interested in history during a grad-level course on how it is done by the pros.

Recently got involved, marginally, in the dispute between Korea and Japan about the ownership of some rocks called either Dokdo (Korean) or Takeshima (Japanese) or the Liancourt Rocks. I hope to either find or start a discussion about this, or at least find some sources of reputable info related to it. Cheers, gang!

Dears,
I'm a 26 years old guy from Italy. I started to be interested to history at 15 y.o. and I've never stop.
In particular, I read and research about fascism (ideology and political organizations), nazism (ideology and political organizations) and nazi's biographies.
I also have a little collection of I ww and II ww pieces.

For do some "research on field" I went to Predappio (Mussolini's burial site) and Rome, to the Wewelsburg and this year I gonna go to Munich and Berlin.
I will write something about this "research journey" when I return!

Hope to be usefull in this forum and compliments coz it's an incredible source of informations!

Hello everybody!
I have known about this forum for a long time but I just used to read it without participating etc. I signed up because I needed/need answers to some questions and this place looks very serious and apolitical.
I am an Untergänger (I make parodies based on the film "Der Untergang") so I am especially interested in trivial and funny details about the characters of the film, like their favourite dishes, names of their pets, strange hobbies etc.
I currently live in Spain but I am Estonian. I am also very much interested in WW2 in Estonia (the Tannenberg Line) and war on the Eastern front.
Well, that's all. I hope to become wiser here.

Hello all!
For a while I have been using this site just out of interest, and to learn more. I have been fascinated with the Third Reich since the age of 14. I am turning 17 this year. From that age, I have devoted a lot of my time to watching, reading and occaisonally writing about that era. I have a small collection of items from WWII, as well as a lovely set of reproduction German daggers on my bedroom wall. I plan on studying German as an extra qualification this year. I am currently living in the UK, and wish to start SS Helferin reenacting!

Welcome, Gerda Heidemarie. It's always encouraging to encounter young people with an interest in history. Too many of our leaders in national governments have failed to know or understand the important lessons history teaches. Hence, as time marches on through the decades and centuries, history tends to repeat itself. History is prologue. Enjoy.

Hi from NZ.
Since being introduced to, and subsequently collecting many issues of Purnell's History of the Second World War during the '70's, I've had a ongoing interest in particularly the German side of things.
Being somewhat embarrassed by my neglect of interest in my own country's reputable involvement in the conflict (on the Allied side of course!), it is a fascination with the German's battlefield organizations, heraldry, uniforms and insignia, weaponry and the notable characters who featured for one reason or another, that has caused me not to sway significantly in any other direction - irrespective of which war or conflict. They were the 'Empire' of the Star Wars saga, which in much the same way was always more interesting than the good guys.

Anyway, for some time now - as an 'aside' at work - I've been trying to create as believable a contrived german combat officer (panzertruppe) in unit(s) that did exist, without 'displacing' too many realities and facts... like 'substituting'.
Basically I've got an individual of Swabian origin who ends up as a Major in the Panzer-Division Feldherrnhalle 2. His awards by the time of his surrender incude: Ritterkreuz, Eisernes Kreuz (I. & 2.), Deutsches Kreuz im Gold, Verwundetenabzeichen im Silber and Panzerkampfabzeichen ('25')

Hello.
I've joined now. I'm in Cape Town, South Africa. I'm 48, and of German, English & French heritage. I've also been to e.g. Germany and the USA twice each, and Namibia.

My favourite history aspects to do with WW2 are: Alternate history of WW2, Battle of Britain, Life in Nazi Germany (including pagan/occultic ways), Eastern front, and advanced & unusual technology of Nazi Germany. I've also thought of various viewpoints about aspects of WW2, and such like. I must just find appropriate threads here for them.

I thought also of a fictitious story I'd like to write about Nazi Germany, and is also in an alternate 'What if' universe. I'll mention that the alternative universe is if the Soviets were no-where near as brutal, barbaric, inhumane - as in this world.

I also more than likely won't be posting much here, being a busy person. Well, lets hope I can get to doing that story above. I can also agree with what was said here about preferring peace.

Hello everyone...this is Brooke and I am the newest member here.
My interest in Germany and this particular period started in the late '80s when I picked up Shirer's 'Berlin Diary' at the school library. I was a seventh grader at the time, but l put down whatever I had previously been reading (probably 'Sweet Valley Twins', hahah!) and plowed through it. I was hooked from then on.
Probably my favorite book so far has been 'Wages of Destruction' by Adam Tooze, but am getting ready to order 'Hitler and His Generals', so the Tooze book may have to move over to second place. We'll see.
Don't let the little blue flag next to my name fool you. I am not Argentine, but currently am in Buenos Aires working, eating dulce de leche, stumbling through Spanish, trying not to get robbed, etc. Originally I am from a Grovers Corners-ish town in the Pacific Northwest, U.S.A. Buenos Aires is a lovely city and I'm enjoying the different pace while I'm here. Just this weekend I had the pleasure of watching a Brecht-style cabaret called 'Der Rote Mond' while feasting on some tasty German food. They don't have Dr. Pepper here, but their German restaurants *almost* make up for it.

See everyone on the boards.

Good evening
My name is Graham I am in Milton Keynes UK
I was for a long while drawn to the history of WW2 especially the SS, I do have quite a collection of Third Reich Medals and cloth patches, however after a trip to the Somme a few years ago , that was it I was hooked and now find that I spend a small fortune on books. I am now currently researching the Battle at Mametz Wood in 1916 to hopefully produce a reader friendly book to come out in time for the 100th anniversary.
I stumbled across this site when trawling the Lehr Regiment Prussian Guard, so not to be slow in coming forward I will be trying to pick your brains for information about them.
I myself an ex Forces ( RAF Regiment) But now find myself running my own Dog grooming business
So greetings to all anyway
Graham
