I was trying to search for a list of all the SS-Obergruppenfuhrers on Google.
I was very lucky in finding this, this has been a great experience for me
THanks everyone

A few years ago I was searching the World Wide Web for a forum exactly like this one, one where people with similar interests would share ideas.

Thanks

I'm always interested in the second war and I'm always searching in the net,
pictures or information or anything about it, and one day I discover this forum.
I write sometimes in a spanish forums about the second war, but we stop to make it, cause always finish fighting between us, I understand that the rest of the people of the worls don't know the history of my country, but this is the reason, cause I'm catalan, and Catalonia in our civil war was in the anti fascist side, so we don't like Franco, and when we lost the war, Franco are the leader of all, was a bad times for the catalans, and the spanish-catalans relationships, cause the catalan and all our culture was forbidden, and Franco and his politic TODAY still have much spanish people that think in the same line..And everyday more catalans want's the independence of Spain so..

I hope that you understand why I prefer a international forum. 8-)

Although a UK national, I live in France and have been researching on AR and Kurt Gerstein for years. Revisionist theories have abounded in France (Paraz, Rassinier, Faurisson, Roques etc.) and, unsurprisingly, created a very critical climate of 'political orthodoxy' concerning studies and writings dealing with the Holocaust in general. There isn't even a third of the available literature on the subject, and very many Anglo-Saxon studies are simply not translated or circulated. Also, France doesn't provide web services ranging from this present forum to the Harvard Law Nuremberg Project; the language being of course a barrier. I had previously found the ARC site, and stumbled on AHF simply by browsing links after punching-in 'Christian Wirth'.

It was a revelation for me to find such an open and serious forum, and have made alot of headway in my research since.
Congratulations & thanks

I came here from moderator Christian Ankerstjerne's The Panzer Forum. When that was inactivated in 2004 he directed his participants to AHF.

It was a much larger board than Panzer forum, and the range and depth of expertise here seemed daunting to me at first. But from at other forums I had already learned to listen before speaking. Most of what I had to offer was good writing by comparison, and sometimes support for research by others. Since then I have had more good fortune in "paying forward" to still other members the research favors done here for me.

After the expertise, or maybe as a result of it, I have liked the educational side of AHF. This is not only about facts and figures, but how skillfully these are often presented. No one can be an expert on all historical subjects of all times and places. But anyone's partial knowledge of something can be happily raised by a good thread or answer, or even completely turned around from mistaken belief. This is the skill of a good teacher of any subject.

And many answers come from ladies and gentlemen, besides. For me this is a big thing, because so much on-line talk elsewhere is insult-spitting and sarcastic one-liners. Those have occasionally appeared here too, but are well-policed by the staff.

I was researching my family last name and found a interesting link to this site.
Although it provided some insight, there are still questions to be answered.
I'm not a war buff although am a Viet Nam veteran.
And while I own a number of W.W. II dvd's, I find nothing romantic or
glorious about war, only the insanity and horror it brings.

In that case, I'd say you've got it about right. War is a helluva mess, and I hope you stick around and pass that message along.

I was doing some research on the SOE circuit Physician or Prosper as it is sometimes called and in particular the guy who ran the air transport Henri Déricourt - and that is where I came across a link to this forum. :)

I was looking for information about my brother using search engine and found my farthers name on the same page with a link to this site. I never knew my farther, Oiva Kyostio, had written anything about the Talvisota 1939-1940! I would be very interested in finding this and reading his record of the 4.Prikaati in the Talvisota! Maybe someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, thank you. :) Riitta

A link from the feldgrau.com forum. It's a much smaller, more familiar forum. Very helpful regulars, many of whom also post here. It is small though. The sheer number of members on this forum does help when getting answers to questions quickly.
