Introduce yourself

Postby Hawkewood on 26 Dec 2011 19:50

Hawkewood: I am using this cover because I work for the US Government in an educational role and must be careful about what I say that is in print and accessible to outsiders and people in the establishment that might find my open discussions to be offensive. My particular interest is World War II, as well as World War I, but I have a range of interests from the ancient world to current events.

I am a PhD in military history and I have been teaching military officers grand strategy and military strategy for a few years. My interests go to the tactical level, for if one cannot understand the organization, tactical and operational concepts, training methods, personnel problems, and logistics, one cannot really understand the strategy at any level. I am interested in the Axis Powers around the world. I am interested in all aspects of military history related to the Axis, whether armies, navies, or air forces.

Hello everybody,

my name is Christian, I am 39 years old and German.

Main interests: battles in Lower Silesia in 1945 and the units my grandfathers served in, especially Inf. Div. 298 (1942) and Inf. Btl. 500 z.B. (in which my grand father was leading an Alarmkompanie).

Could s.o. pls tell me how I can send personal messages on this board? The FAQ says "contact an admin" but it looks like I can not send PMs to the Admins as well.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

My name is Robert but I go by Rob. My interest is in all history, military especially, and WW2 specifically. Just an amateur, but have been involved since I was a kid building battle-dioramas and listening to my family's war stories. I found this site by running into a photograph of a young Polish girl who was killed in the invasion back in 1939. I have posted the source and book the whole story is available in. Glad to be here, and thanks for a great site!

I remember seeing that photo in real time, when I was eight years old. Published in a magazine called "Pix".

Hi everyone!! My name is Chris and I live in the Atlanta, Ga area and work as a policeman. Im a little scared now after reading all of these bio's of different members...most seem to be highly educated! Even as a kid I loved military history and my child hood was alot like ROBPAL's...but what drew me to ww2 German history was my German language/History teacher. He served in the German army in ww2 (eastern front) , he told great stories to us and occaissionally we traded books about ww2. So ever since then i cant get enough of German military history! Lately im wanting to get involved with reenacting and have already made a couple of contacts in reference to that. If anybody is here in the Atlanta area let me know...if there is a few us or so maybe we can all get to together and talk shop over a beer or 2! Im looking forward to talking about history with everyone!! Later!!!

I am 34. I live in America. Just found out about the site, Jan 2012.

Currently I am writing a book about an alternate ending to World War II. I studied History during college in Kentucky and was always fascinated about the Third Reich. When I was in college I noticed I was more interested in Nazi Germany then US Military History.

I have family who fought for both the US and the Wehrmacht, which I still have relatives who reside in Germany - around Grafenhausen. I learned how to read, write and speak German over the years.

Hello everyone!

I'm a spanish young writter who prefers to remain anonymous.
My next book is located after the WWII in someplace of the part of Germany controlled by France.
The kind of information I want to extract of this forum is related to the daily life of people in that period so, if anyone can help me, I would be very grateful. If someone knows a book which can answer my questions, feel free to tell me.

Thank you very much.

I am a retired corporate communications executive, symphony musician, published author/filmaker and historian. You will find most
of my postings in the Forum's huge "Beheadings in Nazi Germany" area. My area of expertise is Germany's fallbeil (falling axe) and capital punishment during the Nazi era. I have a great deal of information on the subject. At the moment though I am editing the manuscript of a book about the North African and Italian campaign (U.S. and British) written in 1945-46 by a friend who was a Warrant Officer in the Psychological Warfare Branch. I am always happy to answer questions about Germany's use of the fallbeil (guillotine), execution protocol, etc., admittedly scary stuff but true.
I recently declined a kind invitation to complete my other book titled "HItler's Guillotine" but am still interested in some day doing it. Biggest problem I find is locating a good publisher.
