Hi
My name is Jari, i'm 30 years old and from Belgium.
I joined this forum some time ago due to my interest in military history.
My grandfather was of German origin and fought with the wehrmacht during WW2 (as my mom told this cause i never knew my grandfather).
In 2000 i joined the military. I served 5 years with recon troops and am now a member of airborne engineer troops.

grtz to all :milwink:
We are the pilgrims, master. We shall go
always a little further, it may be
beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow,
across that angry or that glimmering sea.

Hello everyone. I am 20 years old, though sometimes people mistake me for an older and more mature person. I live in Michigan in the United States. I love WWII for the amazing effects it had on the world's technology. I have family members that fought on both sides during WWII (both in the US and German forces), and I've heard stories on both sides which is really interesting. I have a tremendous curiosity about WWII tanks and aircraft, as well as about the amazing technology Germany developed throughout the war. Although i don't favor the motives of the Axis during WWII, their conduct is most interesting to me. All in all you will find me eager to learn more about the war, and even more eager to discuss it.

Ian Allen Publishing

Postby Jayslater on 23 Feb 2012 15:07

And a quick hello by me. My name is Jay Slater and was the commissioning book editor at Ian Allan Publishing and The History Press. One such commission for IAP was a three-book series on the Fw 190, for example. I also commissioned the highly praised Japanese Secret Projects.

I am now the publisher at Fonthill Media to be launched this spring. I specialise in military history, aviation, tank, maritime and transport titles. Indeed, one of leading titles is the definitive book on the Bismarck with many unpublished photographs. If you have a book idea, by all means please drop me a line: j.slater (at) fonthillmedia.com

With very best wishes,

Jay

Hi Jay, and welcome to AHF. There is one heck of a lot of information uploaded on this site and I am sure you will find it to be an amazing and rich resource.

Now for a question. A colleague and I co-authored 3 books that were published by IAP between 2007 and 2009:

de Zeng, Henry L. IV and Douglas G. Stankey. Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945: A Reference Source. Volume 1. Hersham/Surrey: Ian Allan Publishing Ltd, December 2007. ISBN: (10) 1 903223 72 5. Hb. Dj. 208p. Profusely illustrated. Copious source notes. Color art work. Glossary/Abbreviations. Index.
de Zeng, Henry L. IV and Douglas G. Stankey. Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945: A Reference Source. Volume 2. Hersham/Surrey: Ian Allan Publishing Ltd, March 2008. ISBN: (10) 1 903223 87 3. Hb. Dj. 204p. Profusely illustrated. Copious source notes. Color art work. Glossary/Abbreviations. Index.
de Zeng, Henry L. IV and Douglas G. Stankey. Dive-Bomber and Ground-Attack Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945: A Reference Source. Volume 1. Hersham/Surrey: Ian Allan Publishing Ltd, November 2009. ISBN: (13) 978 1 903223 87 1. Hb. Dj. 208p. Profusely illustrated. Copious source notes. Color art work. Glossary/Abbreviations. Index.

A fourth title was supposed to be published by IAP in March 2010, but has been postponed 3 times with the supposed publishing date now set for July 2012:

de Zeng, Henry L. IV and Douglas G. Stankey. Dive-Bomber and Ground-Attack Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945: A Reference Source. Volume 2. Hersham/Surrey: Ian Allan Publishing Ltd, ???? ISBN: (13) 978 1 903223. Hb. Dj. 204p. Profusely illustrated. Copious source notes. Color art work. Glossary/Abbreviations. Index.

In trying to find out what is causing the delay, why IAP let their North American Distribution contract lapse, and whether or not the delayed book will really (finally) be published this July, we have run into all sorts of unconfirmable stories not the least of which is that IA is getting rid of its unprofitable publishing wing to focus more fully on the firm's other interests (London real estate investments).

Since my co-author and I have a personal interest in this, can you confirm the above and provide any additional information?

Much appreciated,

Henry L. deZeng IV

P.S. if you would feel more comfortable answering this in private, you can PM me.

Hey all!
My name is Fred Hall, I'm from Sweden and I'm 33 years old. I've been interested in (mostly) military history since before I could walk. :) My father, who is a professional soldier, has always had an ample supply of war-related books at home for me to read.

Hi all,

im currently serving in the british airborne. have always had an interest in the german forces of WW2, mainly though waffen ss. (possibly bought on by my own regiments dealings with them in history!)
i have Main interests in Normany, Arnhem (of course!) and also a big interest in the Ardennes.

I Have visited the the battlefields of Normandy and Arnhem and have been fortunate to have Parachuted in on both occasions...(a lot easier when i did it compared to back in the fories i'm well aware!)
My father has written a few books, they are naval ones about British Naval vessels during WWII.

again, Hi all.

Re: Introduce yourself

Postby *Wintergewitter* on 06 Mar 2012 18:04

Hello folks!

I am currently working on a scientific research paper about legal and illegal prostitution in the Second World War on the German side. So, I am looking for any kind of material, may it be contemporary documents, e.g. brothel passes (Bordellschein), sanitation documents (Sanierschein) or even items like signs, plates or anything else that could be possibly related to German military brothels.

It makes no difference whether it is connected to Wehrmacht, SS, Osttruppen, legal or illegal brothels/prostitution, any help would be very welcome. I am mainly interested in actual and contemporary material.

Thank you very much in advance!
