Hi,

I try to speak in English. Hope i'll manage with it. I'm a French author.
My project is to write a big novel, about two German boys, who involve in Hitleryouth.
I want to show how Baldur von Schirach trapped young people. I want to make it live, realistic, convincing.
I search informations on precise points. Maybe you could help me ?
I tell more in others topics.
Thanks and forgive me to my approximative words.

It might help if you speficied WHICH precise points.
Things to search for: the Reichsgesetzblatt books, which give the legal framework.
I feel sure that there would also have been some equivalent of a "service manual", which would have been distributed on enrolment. That would tell you what was supposed to happen, not necessarily what did happen.
A long time ago, I came across a manual called "Dienstunterricht in der Luftwaffe", which was a great eye-opener on the topic of daily life; I have not seen an equivalent HJ publication, but I would be surprised if the bureaucratic Germans did not produce one. I also feel sure that there was a magazine produced; I think that I have seen copies, but I cannot remember the name. Wiki might give it. Of course, if you cannot read German, you have a really big problem.
One thing for you to check on: the number of HJ killed during activities, especially drownings.
Bonne chance!

Hello to All,

I am a partner in Jack Boot Games, LLC. We are a game development company. For several years we have been the developers of the WW2 First Person Shooter "Darkest Hour". We were able to make our releases the most historically accurate of any game of our type. We want to continue this with our commercial release (working title) "Festung Europa" which is intended to cover the action between Commonwealth Forces and the Axis from D-Day to the Liberation of Paris.

For those that are interested you can find videos of "Darkest Hour' on YouTube. These will give you some idea of what we''ve been up to. However, you are looking at work done on a 5 year old game engine. Coming release will, of course, be much more advanced in function and appearance.

I don't know how much I can add to the board (did major in European History in College and am Combat Arms Veteran). To be frank, I'm hoping to learn from you guys and incorporate accurate information into the game. Our players (in more than one survey) have said they play DH largely because of their interest in the history of the period. So, the help you give me may help educate tens of thousands of people throughout the world, albeit at second hand.

Thanks in Advance, Schneller

Hi All,
I am a 60 year old man, currently retired, whose father was a WW2 vet and saw action in Algeria French Morocco; Naples Foggia; Rhineland; Rome-Arno; Sicily; and Southern France. He was awarded the European African Mid-East Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal.
He died when I was seven but not before telling me stories that shaped his short life but mine also. I have always had an interest in the war and collect edged weapons, helmets and anything that strikes me as interesting.
Nice to meet you all and hope to have some good discussions.

Thanks, Max

I live in Michigan & have 3 kids

My mother and her family are German. I've heard a few stories growing up about what happened in Germany during the war but didn't pay a lot of attention to it. My grandmother very rarely talked about it. I knew she had been in prison but it was only recently I found out she'd been in prison from 1942-1945. Since then I've been trying to learn more about the ordinary german citizens that were imprisoned or excuted during the war that you don't really hear about.

Also trying to learn more about the occupied zones in Germany after the war, and about the French-Algerian troops

Hi all,

Name's Steve, 20 years old, and currently living in Australia.
My interest is World War II history in general, and German military history (Heer and SS in particular) since the year 2000.
Also for an 'extra' subject, I've been studying various German uniforms and insignia for 8 years.

My collections are some German original items and some kind of reproductions as well.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi, Gurtsack - welcome to the Forum! As a member of the Norwegian Armed Forces for many years I have had the opportunity of running some thousand rounds through several of the weapons you describe. Particularly the MG34 and the MP38/40. And, of course, the MG3, as well. The MG34 was a fantastic weapon system. Firing it from the hip is better than sex!

And the boxer-engined R75. Beautiful!

Hi,

My name is Goran and I live in the midwest U.S. I just moved here from the east coast, before I was living in northern Virginia. I was born in Worms, Germany and lived near the Rhine, and afterwards in the Stuttgart area, Weil der Stadt as a kid. I'm interested in all things Imperial German Navy, German Army 1914-18, and German Empire. I also have some interest in the Spanish Civil War and Wehrmacht/Afrika Korps as well as the NVA. I have a degree in journalism, but am currently studying IT and computer science. I found this site a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed the number of wwi images and the knowledge of the members on officers and commanders of the Heer and Kaiserliche Marine! Hopefully I can contribute something interesting to the community on this site.
