I like W.C.'s idea of pins as well, I think everyone has a bit of the collector in them. But I did have an odd thought when I read it--do you think that sixty years from now people on another forum will discuss
their authenticity? Can you imagine a conversation like this:
"I'll give you one Third Reich Forum pin for two Feldgrau pins."
"No way dude! I'll give you one Soldatenheim pin for two Third Reich
Forum Pins."
"You must be crazy, look one Third Reich Forum pin even for a Feldgrau Pin--but you have to throw in the Missing Links pin for free."

Unfortunately, based on some of the stuff I've seen on this and other forums, I don't think it'll go that way!

(circa 2053 a.d.)
"That isn't really a THRF pin, you know!"
"Yes it is!"
"No, the real ones were clutchback, but only had one pin. Yours has two!"
"But it has 'MW' engraved in the back, for 'Marcus Wendel'"
"No, that's a fabricated maker's mark. Real ones don't have anything scratched in."
"But I got this from my grandfather, and he was member #2754! He told me it was real!"
"Wait a minute, fellas! The two pin clutchback version was the third run. The single pin was the second run, after people complained about the original clip on the first version. So, you have the Ausf C model!"
"Oh, you don't know what you're talking about!"

Well?

How about a pricing rule?

Postby chrisccoyle on 12 Aug 2003 01:17

When someone puts an item up for sale, they should not be allowed to list it without and asking price!!!!!!

Is there a way to make a donation using online banking? I refuse to own a credit card.

No, sorry.
That is unless you can transfer money from your bankaccount directly to Paypal and donate that way.

The alternative is to do what Aufklarung suggested.

Donation, etc.

Postby Letland on 05 Nov 2003 23:16

Hello Marcus and all,
I am glad to be a part of this forum, and I just read all of your ideas about donations, money, and things. I don't know if I would perhaps give a huge donation but the idea of a small pin, keyring, or coin sounds great to me. The cost would be much less than that of a 40$ Subscription, etc. and I'm sure many people would purchase one.

Also, Mr. Wendel -- Thanks for activating my account, I'm sure it was frustrating for you as it was for me to get the correct username so I'm glad that's settled. :D

Any plans to add the second logo (The laurel with the flags) in combination with the original logo onto the merchandise at Cafeshops?

Duncan's Army Officer Dagger

Postby Derek Maclean on 13 Dec 2003 21:10

Duncan,
We should all be so lucky ! The dagger you have is made, as some other members have told you, by the firm of Eichhorn. This company was considered in Germany, to be the best of the best of German sword and dagger manufacturers,as well as being one of the largest companies of its' kind. The Eichhorn symbol is a design play on the company's name, "Eichhornchen" being the German word for squirrel. Finding a dagger like this with its' dagger knot and belt hanger is a bonus which adds to the overall value of the piece. When considering Eichhorn produced daggers, consider that when Heinrich Himmler commissioned the production of Himmler Honour Daggers, eichhorn was the only company authorized to do so.
