I had been searching for photos and info on the Berichtigungsgerät R36 B for weeks. You used a different word as the name/function of the device than the ones I have seen before. I did a Google search using "range finder adjusting device" and got this hit: http://bunkersite.com/bunkeroptik/optics/em-70.php. This is for a smaller rangefinder but at least it shows what it is and tells what it did. It was used for rangefinder collimation [adjusting an optical instrument so that all of its elements are on their designed optical axis (in line and parallel)]. I decided to post it here to add to the information that you posted.Grzesio wrote:The thing coupled with the rangefinder in this picture is the Berichtigungsgerät, a standard equipment (adjusting latch) of Em 4m R (H) 34 and 36 rangefinders, necessary for their adjustment.

Superb thread on all patterns range finders. Is anyone particularly knowledgeable on WWI German Infantry RFs for the machine guns. I know it is a W14 or ENT14 but identifying the correct tripod is a challenge!

It's a Flak tracking device... I've seen it somewhere already - the spherical thing on top is very distinctive, sadly I cannot remember if it's a piece of a fire director or a searchlight director... It may be French or so...
Re: Id german optical equipment
It's german, a Scheinwerfer Richtgerät C43.
By night, the Kommandogerät can't see the target if not lightened by the Scheinwerfers. And the Scheinwerfers can't find the target in the wideness of the sky without any held. Thats why the Hörschgerät "listens" the sky and calculate the position of the target from the noise of it's motors. The calculation is transmittied to our device, the Richtgerät, that converts the position of the target in an elevation and azimut to the Scheinwerfers. Thus can the target be lightened and Flakkommandogerät can be used.
Otherwise are radar used.
Regards
