German dienstglass and Bakelite case question

Postby walther43 on 19 Jul 2007 01:07

I have a set of 6 by 30 Zeiss binoculars with a leather cover that is dated 1937. I also have a Bakelite case that came with them. Does anyone know if this type of case was standard issue? I have mainly only found pictures showing the leather type case. So I was wondering if this type of case was designated for certain unit issue.

I've only encountered a couple of the Bakelite cases. My understanding is that they were (at least originally) intended for the civilian market.

Interesting, the one I have has a small circle on the lid that has stamped "T2" then "43"
