Beer stein dated 1937 Weihnachten

#1

Post by morgoth66 » 20 Jan 2008, 00:18

Hello all. New to the group. I have a beer stein that I received as a gift from My Father in law sometime ago, He has passed since. I am trying to get a little history on it and possibly a value(for insurance).
It is a greyish pottery stein with pewter lid. The front says(I apologize for spelling, I'm not sure of some of the letters). Wachregiment Berlin,Bayerische Kompanie, then eagle and swastika and below it says Weihnachten 1937. Stamped on the metal lid is possibly Toni Patz.
Any input is appreciated. John

Pictures would be very nice, this is just from what you wrote.

The "Wachregiment Berlin" was the honor unit in charge of Guarding Berlin's Military Sites/HQs, etc.....and as such would be a notch above most regular similiar Regumental Mugs.......Weihnachten 1937 is, of course, Christmas 1937.......

The pictures didn't post......would need to see photos to venture an estimate of value.......(normal Mugs run $250 - 450.00 depending on unit, design, and of course, who's selling it........

I'm having trouble uploading the photos, they're too "big". I'll try again.

My friend just inherited one of these steins from his father who was in the war: Wachregiment Berlin Bayerische Kompanie Weihnachten 1937. It doesn't have a name engraved on the lid but is identical. Any idea where to value or sell something like this?
