Question - Wehrmacht Winter Boots ?

#1

Post by Black Dudley » 23 Oct 2011, 21:57

Bought these (what I take to be) Wehrmacht Winter Boots at the flea-market last weekend. The uppers condition is not so bad, the soles and heels have had some hard wear. Looked the boots over, found no marks or stamps, checked through a number winter boot threads on different forums, have not found a matching boot, on my boots the leather goes higher up the leg. Are there any members with knowledge of winter boots? who could help. Thank you.
Regards

Indeed winter boots, used by SS and Wehrmacht, but also used as normal boots. They did the upper in some sort of cloth to spare out leather.

That "some sort of cloth" is called "felt". This is what made the boots suitable for winter weather. This felt goes all the way down into the boot as a liner of sorts. The leather part is to protect the felt as you would not want to get the felt wet.
