Need help optics part, gun part ?

Hello
Added some photos of something i would like to have identified. Weight 7/8 kg, originaly painted green, but later added white Paint(Camo ?)
There is some marks on it. One one side a large P, anoter side something that looks like 252 1.
A gun part for optics have been suggested. Any ideas ?

Hi Stril,

I agree it is a base for an optic, but it could also be for a firing controle device, not for aiming. Maybe the context/place of the discorvery gives a hint ?

It was found 50/60 years ago in soutwestern part of Norway by a man doing military service. Gun part/optics part have been mentioned.

What does the bottom look like? What do the dials do (or what do they appear to be supposed to do, if they are stuck)? What's the min/max value on the dials?
