Seems to be a sort of self-made (modified) item. Handle taken from a bucket or a lamp.

This very large bottle in the shape of a german water canteen is a rare piece of airforce equipment used by german WW2 airplane crews. This aluminium made bootle was painted yellow with "Benzin" on it in original and was for additional gasoline on board of aircrafts. This was not used for the engines. It was used for making a fire after a crashdown. It belonged to the rescue equipment in every german airplane.
The good one from my collection has lost the handle, but I have a bad one with no colour and handle for spares.
