It has been pointed out by the admin staff that I have not posted a question.....I think it best I declare it open to anyone who wants to keep the quiz going.

Yes, your answer is correct.
The device was called "Mischgerät" (Mixing Machine), and it was the "brain" of V-2.

It scored a number of firsts:
It was the first electronic analog computer, the first flight computer, the first computer that could solve sets of differential equations in real time. Mischgerät role was to constantly adjust V-2 trajectory with high accuracy.

The man who invented it was Helmut Hoelzer. After the war, he worked in US in von Braun's team.
No way is this a "Mischgeraet" or anything to do with the V2. The "Mischgeraet" is a magnetic DC amplifier and looks similar to the one pictured below (which is from the German K12 autopilot from which the V2 units were derived).

The picture shown in the quiz shows some sort of cabinit with lots of indicators, I doubt that it has anything to do with the V2 or even if it is German....

Close, but not quite right.... The antenna shown (which looks like a poorly executed replica by the way) is purporting to be a PRE6 (PeilRahmen, Eisengefuelt 6" , which is the DF loop for the PeilG6 radio installation. The accompanying receiver was called the EZ6 (Empfaenger, Zielflug 6). The antenna (only the upper rotating part, not the motor drive unit) was placed inside an aluminium bowl which was covered with a plexiglass cover which sat flush with the aircraft skin. The aluminium star fixed to the plexiglass is the sense antenna for the EZ6 receiver.

You can read more on this installation here: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... ostcount=1

He was correct, the picture shows the remains of a Fu.H.E.u or v (I can't quite read the frequencies on the scale to determin the exact model). The DC/DC converter to which you refer is the small box sitting on top of the receiver which is a home built power supply.
