Markings on bayonet? Mauser?

Postby compnor on 21 Jul 2003 23:02

I hope someone can help me out by providing some info with regards to the markings as seen on the pictures I added. These markings were taken from the bayonet I just received which is presumably from a Mauser. So, can anyone help me out identifying the markings as well as the bayonet itself? Much appreciated!

Compnor, welcome to the forum! here is a bayo that I have its turkish, For a mauser contract piece. I would go with some type of middle eastern stamping that you have there. the markings look very close to this image. Many of these were re-issued several times to many governments. Not much help but hope it helps. Sorry for the crappy image just shot it by hand

Hi :
:) I have in my possesition one of those Baynotes. I had taken it from a German Sopldier I had eliminated & other thing as well. Sorry if this sounds Crude But this was at the time part of my Life as a a Canadian Soldier. I notice u r in Belgium. I Beleive this Wermacht Soldier was in the Battle of The Bulge in Belgium.

The Markings as far as i know r Serial # as a idetity for the Bayonet. To Keep record of them just as all other arms.

It could be in any type of Language as towrds the end of WW2 war the Germany Military had very few new weapons. as the one i have the Scabber is held together with Copper wire etc. I have other Memorlia from the Deceased & others. But Not For Sale . I keep them so as when i have discussions @ the College here with Students on Humanity course etc. here.

More Veterans should take part on Both sides . (U Too HaIn<s>)

Mystery Markings

Postby DJP on 22 Jul 2003 22:11

You have a Mauser M.98 of Japanese manufacture (compare the rivets to a Japanese Bayonet, if you have one). This particular bayonet was issued to collaborative elements in Thialand, hense the Siamese serial numbers.
