I recently received this unusual Identity card; issued in Berlin in 1946.
It has a Red cover with the words OPFER DES FASCHISMUS [ VICTIM OF FASCISM ] in Gold.
Below this are the letters "KZ" over a red triangle both outlined in Gold. This KZ, "MAY" indicate a Concentration Camp survivor?
The 1st interior pages shows the counterstamped photo of a young child and an issue date of May 16,1946.
The second interior page has an AUSWEIS number of 3452 and some particulars relating to the child.Name, address, date of birth.
The back cover shows the ARMS of Berlin in Gold, and it is Impressed so that it shows in raised relief on the 2nd page
The form is in 4 languages, ie Russian, English, German, and French.
The ID is a stiff cardboard and measures 7 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches when open.
Condition is EXCELLENT.
I would appreciate any information on this such as :
Why were they issued?
What was the criteria for obtaining the card?
Did any priviledges come with this card?
Where they issued nationally, or by City or region?
How many may have been issued?
Any other information would be appreciated.
This card is now part of my personal ID collection.
regards,
Bob Frey

Hello,
I have read about these. This is the first time I have seen one. I believe they were given on the Soviet side and entitled the bearer to special privilages. Better housing and food were given to them. This little person would not have to worry about it but I think you also got a job easier.
regards,
Steve

For what it's worth, I have one of these.
Ausweis No. 7801
Dated: 26 June 1946
It appears to me to be issued by the City of Berlin
