Soldbuch with odd cover?

#1

Post by danzed » 21 Mar 2014, 10:58

Hi,
I have a soldbuch with 24 pages that have entries on almost every page.
The cover is different, maybe replaced? I would appreciate information on the soldbuch, for example who had it?

More pictures are available if there is someone who is good at interpreting.

Regards
Daniel

That is part of the back cover. The writing would be on the inside of the rear cover. I've attached an example from my collection. The Soldbuch is a 'Zweitschrift' issue which basically means it is a replacement for his original Soldbuch which may of become lost or damaged etc.

It appears to be of Gefreiter Walter Langnese, born on 19th March 1924 in Mörse, Kreis Gifhorn, Bezirk Lüneburg.
Registered for service in Braunschweig.

The normal cover has either had a pc. of paper "glued" ontop of the original normal cover or someone has carefully removed the "top layer" of cardboard/paper with the printing/eagle....leaving a "sterile" top sheet cover.... could have been "blank" but doubt it, never heard of an issue "blank" Soldbuck.

I thought that was the back.
I'd bet that the cover had the face peeled off because the Soldbuch was in Germany and the swastika is illegal to display. I have seen, and have one, that has had the swastika scraped off or inked over. I also have a typewriter/instruction book that has had the swastika inked over. I bought it at a flea market in Germany.
Not a big deal, but to me detracts from the value.
