German Abbreviations on Photographs

#1

Post by Zauberspruch » 06 Oct 2014, 21:49

I have a German photograph, roughly 9" x 7", taken in 1945 in Berlin, and in the lower left hand corner is an abbreviation ... LA-12 ... Is anyone familiar w/ that abbreviation? My theory is that LA stands for Lichtbild Abteilung, although so far I have been unable to reference that theory. I guess it's possible that LA could be the initials of a Kriegsberichter? Any help deciphering that would be greatly appreciated. - Karl A.

CORRECTION: That should say, "lower right hand corner" ... not left hand ... my apology for any confusion ... Has anyone seen the hand-applied marking L.A-12 on German wartime photographs? Thanks, all.

Could you post a scan? Different bureaus had different markings.
