I'd be interested in seeing the entries in the SS-Soldbuch.

MP409mm,
The "Riesepass, Kennkarte, and Arbeitsbuch are all "nice" but still very common.... the "SS Soldbuch" is naturally the prize book...seeing the "insides' (entries) is "key" to everything.... of course, reproductions are a big danger.

Hi John, I agree with you that The "Riesepass, Kennkarte, and Arbeitsbuch are nothing to brag about, but they were my first acquisition when I started my collection, so I thought why not.
The SS Soldbuch I think it also nothing special from it seems inside, if it is not a repro as you said, but I will scan its contents and post it; any comments will welcomed because that is the way to lean.

Hi All, Here is my inside pages of the SS Soldbuch, pages with entries only, as I said I do not think it is a very interesting Soldbuch from what I can tell, even though I do not understand the meaning of every entry. Comments are very welcome because that is the only way one can learn. :D

Wasn't knocking the other ID books..... I have a few examples myself of these....

I like the "SS Soldbuck".... issued to a "Reserve Wasserschutzpolizei (Water Protection Police) officer from "Hamburg".... guy was born 11.4.90 (so 54 in 1944) and was a holder of the Black Wound Badge (probably from WW 1 but doesn't specify). All Polizei (including Wasserschutzpolz.) came under RF-SS command so seems legit from what little I know about such items... will leave it open for more comment.

Very nice IMHO...

Hi John, I assure that I was not the least offended by your justified comment that is the reason why I post on Forums, because it is very important to hear and learn from others that are more knowledgeable than me on the subject.
Regarding the Soldbuch it is great knowing it’s the contents, thank you for your translation.

The man is a "Revierobermeister der Schutzpolizei der Reserve " what is an NCO rank with the equivalent "SS- Oberscharführer" and therefor he´s far from being an officer.

This is my reading of the old-style handwriting on page 2:

geb. am 11.4.90 in Hamburg (born April 11, 1890 in Hamburg)
Religion: gottgl. (Protestant) Stand, Beruf: Wieger (Occupation: Weigher?)
Personalbeschreibung – Personal Description
Grösse (height): 1.695 m (5' 7"), Gestalt (appearance): unterfasst(?) (“described below”)
Gesicht (face): oval, Haar (hair): blond
Bart: gest(?) Schnurrbart (? mustache), Augen: Blau (Eyes: blue)
Besondere Kennzeichen (z. B. Brillenträger): (Special characteristics (e.g. wears glasses)): Tätowierung a[uf] r[echts?] Unterarm ü[ber] Brust (Tattoo on right underarm above chest)

On page 8 and 9, there is a chart of articles of clothing issued. The first column is the reason for issuing; I can't read the word but it is obviously the initial uniform. The last column is the name of the police station and the signature of the issuing officer, which I can't read. However, there is an extra article of clothing that is handwritten in. It's some kind of cap issued in addition to one Feldmütze (field cap). It might be "Graue Mütze" (gray cap).

There might well be errors in that, and most of the personal details can be inferred from the photo, anyhow. The tattoo is probably the most interesting detail. To add to what history1 said about the man's rank, it is equivalent to a Feldwebel in the army, which is roughly equivalent to a sergeant.

Religion: gottgl. (Protestant)
gottgläubig is a believer in god, not Protestant. Not a member of any religion, but an opposite to an atheist.

Agree with Gregs´s correction.
Other corrections:
" Gestalt (appearance): unterfasst(?) (“described below”)" reads
" Gestalt (appearance): untersetzt (squatty, stubby)"

"Bart: gest(?) Schnurrbart (? mustache)," is
"Bart: gest. [-utzter] Schnurrbart = beard: pared/trimmed mustache"

"[...] Tätowierung a[uf] r[echts?] Unterarm ü[ber] Brust (Tattoo on right underarm above chest)" should be
"[...] Tätowierung a. [-uf] r. [-echtem] Unterarm u.[-nd] Brust (Tattoo on right underarm and chest)".
Don´t misinterpret the Sütterlin letter "u" [Where are our special characters now, Marcus??] as "ü" what is causing also a many errors at Fold3.com.
