Armee Wenck leaflet
Armee Wenck leaflet
Hello friends,
Yesterday a propaganda leaflet to motivate the soldiers of the Wenck army was sold on ebay.
I took some screenshots.
It's printed on both sides.
Any opinions on this one? I've never seen one before but the (con)text seems genuine.
Thanks
Peter

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
Leaflet is a "known" leaflet, would be rare/unusual if original... but "looks" photocopied and artificially aged at first glance... would need "microscopic" examination of printing and paper before I'd buy the "story".. just my opinion. Not typical paper for most late war German leaflets that I've seen/handled... for what that's worth.

Hello John,
Thanks for the Info.
I've never seen one - as stated - before.
Do you have any (picture) example of an other one?
Cheers

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
Sorry, I have no pictures or links,,, but I know I've seen this leaflet before. Possibly one of the pre-computer pictorial book on the closing weeks of the war (when we still looked a those type books).

This one looks like "it should", the earlier example doesn't... thanks for sharing the real deal.

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
Today I recieved the leaflet.
Look what I found in the package ....
The flashlight on the ebay image did it no good.
The size is not standard A4, paper is very thin, yellowish and smells "old" ...
I put in on a white background.
Cheers

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
I still prefer the "look" of the German Museum example... but would have to see/touch/smell etc. (plus magnification!) to judge... rare leaflet no doubt! You have to be the one who finally decides if it's real or a reprint.

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
Hello John,
The colour/teint of my leaflet is exactly the same as the DHM example.
Knowing that the background is clear white and seeing what a camera (without flash) does with the background an paper colour/teint...
I'll try later to make pics outside with magnification.
Cheers

Re: Armee Wenck leaflet
As promissed some more pics.
The paper is UV-negativ.
The print on the backside is "in the real" more shining through.
The damage, where the paper was folded for many years in close-up.
The leaflet comes from the estate of the late SqLdr 933486 Robert Nathanial GODWIN DFC 223 [ bs] squadron.
He was in BERLIN in the months after mai 1945.
Every picture (flashlight/daylight) produces its own teint and hides/highlights details.
So as John states correctly; you have to feel, see and smell it and beïng able to do that I can confirm that there are genuine WWII Wenck-leaflets (at least 1) that are not kept in the Deutsches Historisches Museum.
Cheers
