I have another Fp Nr. also for a unit in the Cherbourg peninsula (possibly from 83. ID), this time in April 1941:
Fp Nr. 16435B

Emmanuel
For that period...

(Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) Stab III Infanterie-Regiment 398,
(28.4.1940-14.9.1940) Stab III u. 9.-12. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 398,

...with the B indicating 9 Kompanie.

Thank you very much hucks216. I assume that the Fp Nr. was still valid for April 1941.
In any case it fits: IR398 was part of 216 ID which was actually stationed in the Cherbourg peninsula until May 1941. :D
83 ID replaced it afterwards.

Yes it is. The dates in brackets represent the time frame for when the unit started using the Feldpost number.

Thanks Larry.

Interesting to see that the Feldpost would have been deleted between 28.4 and 19.9.1940. However, I found a copy in a book of a letter written in occupied France and dated "20.6.40" with a stamp that clearly reads "Dienstelle - Feldpost Nr. 31528". :?

Generally speaking, many of the Grenzwacht units along the Dutch-Belgian-French border were disbanded right after the front moved forward into France in the latter part of May 1940, and the personnel incorporated into infantry and security units, especially Landesschützen-Btle. Such was the case with Grenzwacht-Abschnitt 46. Tessin implies 7. Kp. became part of a mobile tactical formation by the name of "Regiment Senger" that moved into France in early June.

Hi to all!

In my book about the FHQu "Wehrwolf" also will be an appendix with ALL FPN traced into the mail documents by the RSD (Geh.Feldpolizei - Gruppe RSD - Dst. Sicherungsgruppe Ost). From this archives, I own about 5.000 documents. I went through this enormous pile for my research.

Until today, I've found and traced 63 different FPN in these archives - all related to the construction and/or working of the FHQu "Wehrwolf"! So I collected all FPN in the FHQu data (mail, orders, police documents etc.) and started to set up a FPN List meant as Appendix for my book. All FPN are checked with the Kannapin - books.

Keep tuned !!! Martin

PS: as attached a sample of a typical RSD letter dated 25.1.1943. In this example, the RSD makes use of the FPN 27 551, belonging to: 3.Kp.Ldschtz.Btl.318, the guard unit onsite when the FHQu was not in service. The normal FBB and other guard units were at that time still based at Rastenburg (FHQu "Wolfsschanze).

Hi,
I'm new to AHF and have a Feldpost number I'm interested in investigating. I think this is a good place to start!
Feldpost #65408A 1944/1945 Kremnitz/Kremnica (in modern Slovakia)
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alex

The only entry for that FpNr is:
(23.4.1944-24.11.1944) 11.12.1944 Sicherheitspolizei (SD) Einsatzkommando 14.
