hello,
Please can someone help with these numbers?
44241
40400
45306
These numbers come from a bottle of documents that was found during the exhumation of the bodies of five German soldiers who fell in the battle of the Polish partisans "Ośka" on July 30.1944, not far from Iłża. A copy of the document received from the local museum.
With your help I would like to add my local history.
best regards Tomasz

...so all three numbers belonged to soldiers serving in Korps level units within LVI Panzerkorps, the first being a supply unit and the last being a vehicle maintenace/repair unit.

Re: Feldpost numbers
I am hoping someone would be able to provide me with more information on the following Feldpost Number:
01007 D
I have no idea what these numbers or alphabetic reference refers to.
These Feldpost Numbers were among my grandfather's documents.
His ID or Erkennungsmarke was 6/113 Krft.Ers.Abt.XX.
There is a date 31.5.1943 but he also refers to this unit on a replacement Soldbuch document dated 6.5.1945.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Fred
21849
(31.7.1942-9.2.1943) 5. Kompanie 1. Marine-Funk-Meßabteilung
in the period between July 7th 1942 and February 9th 1943 the

its definitiv wrong - its an understanding error - the period definate the time the FPN were allocated, not the procurement timeOn this page, http://www.axishistory.com/axis-nations ... 1000-21999 it is write that this FPN has no unit after 9.2.1943.

Re: Feldpost numbers
Could someone please help me. I have a letter in grandfather's collection; the letter has been written in August 1942 in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. The letter has been signed by someone whose name sounds German (although he writes rather good Finnish) and underneath the signature reads "Fp. Nr. 19211 C". I suppose this stands for a military unit? Could someone please shed some light to what kind of unit is in question. And please note that I'm a complete dummy in WWII German military units so anwers accordingly, please
I would like to try to get in touch with descendants of the person who has written the letter (as I believe he has passed away). Any tips or hints as to what my first step(s) should be? Are there e.g. such veteran guilds or associations that I could be in touch with?
Thank you so much for any help!
Cheers,
Jon

According to Lexikon der Wehrmacht, 19211 C is the 5. Batterie of Artillerie-Regiment 234. And 234 belongs under 163. Infanterie-Division which in 1942 was in Finland. Perfect! I will take the veteran guild discussion somewhere else as I suppose it doesn't really fall under this category.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Jon
